How The Loft Conversion Process Works..
Uptown Lofts specialise in the design and conversion of lofts in bungalows, houses and commercial buildings, providing additional quality living accommodation in your house.. We provide a complete package from start to finish, and our associates can take care of planning permission, building regulations and structural engineering requirements and the conversion is inspected by the local building control authority to ensure all work carried out by our own in-house highly skilled team meets the required standards, the building inspector will pass the conversion verbally and the customer will then receive the completion certificate. To maximise the space available (subject to local authority approval) we can design in dormers in all shapes and sizes, velux window units and balconies to further enhance the conversion, and individual bespoke staircases. We will work with you at all stages, giving you personal attention all the way through to completion. Should you require, we can do the main structural work, including the staircase, and allow you to complete the rest.
 We are able to offer advice to assist you to complete your loft conversion. Many loft conversion projects come to us through recommendations from our many satisfied clients and we can make arrangements for you to view these. Uptown Lofts provide drawn plans and designs having discussed your loft conversion. With these we will provide a quotation to cover the work. This quotation will include architectural plans, structural engineers calculations, structural steelwork, materials, plumbing, heating, lighting, sockets and smoke alarms where required. All we leave for you is decoration and we can arrange this via one of our preferred suppliers. Once you have accepted our quotation we will carry out a full survey and have detailed plans drawn up for your approval. We will then submit the plans for planning approval if required (many can be carried out under permitted development rights) and building regulation approval.

Do I require Plans and planning permission Plans are always required and sometimes Planning permission is also required. We are experienced in handling plans with our own architects and planning permission. Will I need to arrange Building Regulations Approval? We are used to dealing with Building Control and we will complete all necessary paperwork for you. What insurance do you have to carry out the work on my property? As Professional builders, both the company and all our subcontracted tradesmen have full public liability insurance. Who supervises and oversees all the work carried out? Depending on the size of the job and its requirements, our trademen will keep you updated at every stage during your conversion. Are there different types of Loft Conversions? Converting the area already available in your loft is called a 'rooflight' or 'Velux™' conversion. a conversion with an extension to the roof is called a 'Dormer' conversion or a Hip to Gable conversion. more elaborate conversions are available such as 'Mansard' creating much more space. From the smallest to the largest, Uptown Lofts have the answer. Can all lofts be converted? It is not feasible or practical to convert some lofts. providing the necessary height in your loft is available not less than 2.4m (8ft).
